Why should our company/organization participate in the Earth Day 2008 Initiative?
Participating in the Initiative is a way of demonstrating your commitment to environmental stewardship.
Earth Day 2008 provides a unique opportunity for your organization and its employees or members to test the options of alternative transportation and the benefits they provide. By ridesharing in mass numbers on Earth Day, WNY’ers will enjoy lower travel and parking costs and reduced traffic-related stress, while also contributing to reduced vehicle emissions, lower traffic congestion and an improved quality of life for all area residents. Your organization’s participation in Earth Day may help alternative transportation become a permanent option for some of your employees or members.
What is the cost to participate?
There is no cost for companies and organizations to participate, and there is no cost for your employees or members to participate.
Will you help us inform our employees/members about the Initiative?
Between now and April 22, we will send you emails with text that describes the Initiative and encourages individuals to consider carpooling, biking, walking, or taking public transportation on Earth Day. You can tailor these messages appropriately and forward them to your employees/members.
Will you help our employees/members find ridesharing options?
The GoodGoingWNY website makes this very easy. To find ridesharing opportunities, simply enter a starting address and a destination, and the program will identify carpool matches, bus options, and bicycling routes.
Will there be a pledge form?
Yes, we will invite individuals to pledge their participation. Details forthcoming.
